Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. Our core objective is to recognise our potential impact on the world around us and adhere to our responsibility to operate in a way that is environmentally and socially acceptable.
- Responsible Sourcing
When ordering from us, you can be confident that you are trading in products that are from legal, ethical and sustainable sources. As part of our environmental commitment, we have a policy not to buy timber from countries that do not comply with international agreements or fundamental good forestry practices.
- Chain of custody
We have held Chain of Custody since 2005 and can offer fully certified FSC® or PEFC™ options in all of our product sectors. Timber that qualifies for chain of custody is only sourced from ‘legal and sustainable’ forests. It guarantees the timber has been harvested legally and as part of an overall forest management system. Legislation banning illegal timber from entering the UK and supporting the Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT) programme came into effect in 2011. Weare already in the advanced stages of becoming fully compliant. GreenerFleet is a powerful fleet management tool that enables us to monitor driving style and behaviour to promote safer and greener driving by our employees.
- FSC® & PEFC™
The FSC® is one of the most important and recognisable names associated with sustainability with regards to forest derived products. The Forest Stewardship Council are a globally leading, environmentally conscious body that actively promotes the use of sustainable timber. The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification operates in a very similar way to the FSC® by offering certification to products and practices that meet their required standards and criteria. Whilst the FSC® is the fastest growing certification body, the PEFC™ is by far the largest globally – with approximately two thirds of all certified forests.
- Future Developments
We are committed to continuously improving our environmental performance, preventing pollution and increasing the positive impact occurring as a result of our activities. We strive to meet, and where possible, exceed applicable environmental legislation. To implement this policy we are committed to setting and monitoring environmental objectives and targets in order to reduce environmental impact.
